Referral requirements vary depending on your insurance plan and the reason for your visit.

Some insurance plans require a referral or authorization before you can be seen. Our office can help determine what information is needed, but patients are encouraged to confirm referral requirements directly with their insurance company.

Insurance coverage and benefits vary by plan. Patients are responsible for understanding their individual coverage, copayments, deductibles, referral requirements, and authorization requirements.

Please contact our office with questions about whether we currently participate with your insurance plan.

Please provide the following before or at your appointment:

• Photo identification

• Current insurance card

• Current medication list

• Relevant medical records

• Recent imaging reports or test results

• Therapy, operative, or hospital records when applicable

• The name and contact information of your primary care physician and referring provider

Having this information available helps Dr. McKinney understand your medical history and make the most of your first appointment.

Your first visit will include a review of your medical history, current symptoms, previous treatment, and functional goals.

Dr. McKinney may also perform a focused neurologic or musculoskeletal examination. Together, you will discuss your diagnosis, treatment options, and recommended next steps.

Treatment recommendations may include medication management, therapy, bracing, equipment, diagnostic testing, injections, or coordination with other members of your healthcare team.

Procedures are not always performed during the first appointment. Some treatments require insurance authorization, medication ordering, or a separate procedure visit.
